Keratosis pilaris is a benign but frustrating condition where dead skin cells pile up at the hair follicles and make little sand paper-like bumps.  It tends to run in families and most often it occurs on the arms, legs and cheeks.

Treatment for keratosis pilaris consists of using gentle soaps, lots of moisturizers to hydrate the skin and medicated creams to gently remove this dead skin.  Although it cannot be cured it can be improved and controlled.  For many patients, keratosis pilaris resolves by adulthood.
